I was hand-selected to participate in a conceptual project. The client was Legends Media, a company focused on producing multimedia content centered around the automotive industry. The unique challenge? To create a product collection featuring the owner's dog, Sparco, in a ramen bowl. Very. AWESOME!
To begin the project, I thoroughly reviewed a detailed creative brief that included illustration references and layout directions, product files, a presentation format, and tech pack directions. With the freedom to explore the possibilities of mashing up a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and hot soup, I conducted investigative research, studied Legends Media's social media handles, and learned all about owner Dustin's personal tastes.
I discovered that Japanese art, Godzilla, stylish design, and playfulness would become the core elements that influenced my creative execution. However, after many initial sketches, I felt that the idea of picturing a dog in a traditional ramen bowl wasn't quite right. I knew I needed to find a clever way to incorporate Dustin's personal tastes into the design.
What resulted was a unique, fun, and bold product collection. From a skull-shaped bowl, to a lizard-skinned bandana, and bold colors with Japanese-inspired design elements, the collection includes products that the client has previously had success with, alongside additions paying homage to Sparco, in a patterned dog bowl and collars.
In the end I was proud of the outcome and felt that the collection truly captured the spirit of Legends Media, and showcased my creativity and attention to detail.
